FROM ERUPTION TO EXPANSION: DIANETICS IS DIAMOND FOR ITS 75TH ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION
May 10, 2025
Seventy-five years ago, a book ignited a global movement. Tonight, that fire blazed anew—revealing all new facets of Dianetics, the bestselling book ever on the human mind.
The evening began with thunder—not a rumble outside, but a loud clap inside the auditorium, cutting through the darkness.
A volcano exploded on-screen, followed by the roar—just as explosive—from the audience.
They had gathered to honor a force born in 1950, which—like lava itself—proved relentless, reshaping everything in its path. An evolutionary leap beyond the wheel or fire: this is the power of Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health, now celebrating 75 years of unstoppable motion.
Tonight, Scientologists from more than 70 nations gathered at Clearwater’s Ruth Eckerd Hall in a radiant celebration of the Dianetics legacy. The moment shone brighter still with the announcement of all that was about to come—new journeys, new frontiers and new opportunities—all carrying the life-changing power of Dianetics further than ever before.
The crowd burst into a long, spontaneous standing ovation at the appearance of Mr. David Miscavige, the ecclesiastical leader of the Scientology religion. “Exactly 75 years ago, a book called Dianetics unleashed a seismic force that shook the globe,” he began. “In celebrating tonight, we are doing no less than honoring the most potent force on Earth, a force for sanity and survival.
“In an era when books on the mind were rarely read—if ever even opened,” Mr. Miscavige continued, “Dianetics hits like a bolt from the blue, erupting onto the New York Times bestseller list, blazing a trail for 28 straight weeks and all but coining the phrase ‘overnight sensation.’”
The evening was all about Dianetics: The Modern Science of Mental Health (renowned as “Book One,” being the first work published on the subject), both its enduring impact and ongoing future. He reminded the audience that the release of Dianetics in 1950 sparked a thunderous global response, the book instantly recognized for its revolutionary technology. It earned the first and only Century Award from Publishers Weekly; is one of the “50 Books That Changed Our Lives”; and was instrumental in earning author and Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard (LRH) a place among the Smithsonian Institution’s “100 Most Significant Americans of All Time.”
The book’s transformative history was also on display with a stunning visual presentation of the dedication ceremony at a new historic LRH Landmark Site: the very first Dianetics Foundation. Opened last month at 42 Aberdeen Road, in Elizabeth, New Jersey, dignitaries joined Scientologists and neighbors who witnessed that Book One legacy coming back to life.
Yet the focus on history was just the beginning. “If only to reinforce our theme for this evening,” Mr. Miscavige said, “we are here to celebrate the book that didn’t just start it all once, it keeps starting it again … and again!”
And with that, the evening escalated into the next Book One explosion, unveiled by Scientology Media Productions. It began with the book itself and brand-new 75th Anniversary editions crafted specifically for the public book trade.
Then came another wave of gasps—because this summer, for the first time ever, Dianetics will be released as an eBook, available on Kindle and other platforms. The eBook will even feature a built-in touch-screen glossary of Dianetics terms, exactly as written by LRH. And just as monumental, the eBook synchronizes with the Dianetics audiobook debuting for the first time ever on Audible, Apple Books and more.
With each revelation, the cheers grew even louder—foot-stomping, full-throated roars—as these weren’t simply new avenues to Dianetics, they were long-held dreams, suddenly brought to life.
But the surprises weren’t done yet.
A groundbreaking national TV campaign is set to air on every major network—addressing anxiety, stress and other mental health concerns, with a voice both familiar and compelling. Each ad delivers a clear, powerful message: the solution begins with reading Dianetics.
Next came a bold and unapologetically hard-hitting program—Dianetics: The Adventure of You. The show is slated for morning and late-night broadcasts, time slots where infomercials find their greatest impact. Thus, alongside new messages, fresh ads and expanded book formats, the potential—and ease—to discover Dianetics is set to grow exponentially.
And wait until the world sees Dianetics: Clear Talk.
The night held even more in store, aiming a bold new lens on the modern science of mental health. Dianetics: Clear Talk is a full television series—conversational, personal—and pure Dianetics. Spotlighting artists and athletes, entertainers and entrepreneurs, the show, filmed with a live audience, will be broadcast on Scientology Network television—whose viewership has more than doubled in the past year, reaching every country on Earth.
As the evening continued, viewers were offered a glimpse of the network’s exciting new season, debuting on June 2, and highlighted by “a whole new way to experience our voice”—The Scientology Podcast.
All told, the night’s anniversary campaign made one thing abundantly clear: Dianetics, first unveiled 75 years ago, is needed today more than ever—now with no limit to the opportunities to receive it.
In testimony to that point, some of the brightest luminaries worldwide were honored for their dedication to spreading Dianetics and transforming lives: from the top individual bookseller out of Italy, raising the bar for dissemination, to Brazil’s leading Book One Auditor, making miracles routine; from a Dianetics Group in Bulgaria, reaching 15% of their nation, to a powerhouse Mission in Ecuador, driving book-a-thons into overdrive; and a booming Ideal Org in Mexico City, turning Dianetics into a citywide wave. The night’s winners spoke a diversity of languages, representing nations across Europe and North and South America, yet their individual stories echoed the same universal truth: Dianetics is everywhere, and it’s changing the world—again.
However, for all the brilliance of the night, there was yet one more shining star, half a world away. Attendees next witnessed the filmed highlights of the Grand Opening of Scientology’s newest Ideal Org in Eastern Cape, South Africa. A restored 10-story, 90-year-old masterpiece, in the birthplace of Nelson Mandela and overlooking the vast meeting point of land and sea at Mandela Bay.
With new Dianetics editions soon available, new messages on every screen and new Churches and Landmark Sites opening worldwide, the close of the event in fact clearly signified the next Dianetics explosion.
“If you think what you’ve seen tonight is everything,” Mr. Miscavige said, “let me assure you—this is only the beginning. So yes, one can sit back and ask, ‘In what far-flung village will that book next surface?’ and ‘Who will next turn to Chapter One?’” he added. “But in the same breath, you have to ask yourself—as LRH once did: Now that the history of Dianetics has begun, what other things can we bring about tomorrow?
“Well, my friends … tomorrow is here.”
