A fundamental idea of Scientology is that increased spiritual awareness is the only factor which offers any road to increased survival and happiness.
Through auditing, one becomes free. This freedom must be augmented by knowledge of how to stay free. Scientology contains the anatomy of the reactive mind in its axioms and the discipline and know-how necessary to handle and control the laws of life.
The practice of Scientology, then, is composed of auditing and training in Scientology principles in equal parts which includes the technology of their application. Knowing the mechanisms by which spiritual freedom can be lost is itself a freedom and places one outside their influence.
Because of the importance of training, you will find Scientologists studying the works of L. Ron Hubbard in any Church of Scientology. If you were to look in on them, anywhere in the world, you would see a very lively environment that is unique to Scientology training.
The scripture of the Scientology religion consists of books, recorded lectures and films in which L. Ron Hubbard set out his discoveries and teachings. In these works he not only describes the precise manner in which all forms of auditing should be ministered, he also describes fundamental axioms and the application of them to improve conditions in many areas of life. Fundamentally Scientology is a body of knowing which if applied correctly can lead to greater freedom, happiness and spiritual awareness.
Scientology training consists of learning this knowledge and learning how to apply it correctly to improve one's own spiritual understanding and ability and to help others.
It is through training that one really becomes a Scientologist, a person able to give effective help to others.
Training occurs formally in courses delivered in Churches and Missions, by correspondence and on-line and also informally where people read or listen to Mr. Hubbard’s works at home or elsewhere and then apply those teachings to help others.
