The Grand Opening Mysore, Southern India Countless legends and fables tell of mans relentless search, throughout the ages, for wisdom and personal freedom. Right to the present day, people of even the oldest religions are still searching for answers. India is such a place.
Just over two years ago Robyn Perry, a Mission Holder from Washington State, and Bruce Hilliard, a Mission Holder from Maine, USA, started missionary activities in the city of Mysore in Southern India. There they befriended a top Hindu religious leader, university professors, and many of the local Mysore businessmen. They delivered lectures to literally thousands of people on Dianetics and Scientology basics, and how they could use these principles to improve their lives and the conditions around them. Their work resulted in an overwhelming demand for a Scientology mission to be established in Mysore, and with this demand, the first staff for a mission were selected and sent for training.
Hearing of this project, acclaimed composer/musician Mark Isham and his wife Donna decided to team up with Robyn and Bruce, and they travelled to India to help in the establishment and opening of the mission.
In addition to helping with preparations for the mission opening, this team, along with other Scientologists who had now joined them, participated in a major Mysore religious festival. They lectured to groups of more than 20,000, and toured over 50,000 people through an exhibition portraying the life and works of L. Ron Hubbard, the Founder of Dianetics and Scientology.
The grand opening of the Mysore Mission was attended by hundreds of local residents, university principals and professors, religious leaders and other VIPs, welcoming the new mission to the city of Mysore!
