The first Scientology Mission was recently opened in Kathmandu, the capital of Nepal. This resulted from the work of several missionaries who went to Nepal and disseminated to Buddhist monks, delivering a number of seminars on Dianetics at an ancient Buddhist temple. Following these seminars a Dianetics counseling group was formed, which rapidly expanded and is now a Scientology Mission.
The Executive Director of the Kathmandu Mission, Mr Raju Chetri, was previously a tour guide who had been the personal guide for one of the first Scientologists who visited Nepal. He took an immediate interest in Dianetics and personally took charge of the Dianetics counseling group.
A few months later he went for training at the large and well-established Scientology Mission of Bangkok, Thailand. He then teamed up with veteran Mission Holder Robert Anderson from Boulder, Colorado, USA, and with his help and direction, the first Scientology Mission of Kathmandu opened its doors.
