SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTERS INDIA GOODWILL TOUR IN KOLKATA, INDIA

The Scientology Volunteer Ministers India Goodwill Tour is working with the street-children of Kolkata to give them the tools they need to create a better future.

With over 4 million living in the slums of this city, known in the West as Calcutta, widespread illiteracy is a barrier to these street-children gaining the skills they need to move out of the slums and into mainstream society. This is compounded by increasing rates of drug addiction among children as young as 8 years of age, many of whom turn to crime to support their habits.

The Volunteer Ministers start their work with these youth by providing "group processing," a technique developed by L. Ron Hubbard in the 1950s which can be run on large groups of people to help them increase their awareness and ability.

This is followed by application of tools to raise literacy and reinforced with training in basic precepts from The Way to Happiness, a non-religious moral code that has been found to be very effective in bolstering children against peer pressure to take drugs or become involved in crime.

With so many to reach, the Volunteer Ministers are training up teams of people who can carry this program further into the community. If you can help, or would like more information, contact the Volunteer Ministers Coordinator at vm@volunteerministers.org.

Assists are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard. They operate on the principle that one tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate stress and physical aches and pains, or to orient a confused or distraught individual to his present environment.

Learn on-line how to do Scientology Assists.
