Rev. Jentzschs presentation:
Fellow members of the clergy, distinguished government officials, our law enforcement officers who serve to keep good order, ladies and gentlemen.
It is my honor to be here to pay tribute to Sheriff Lee Baca whose life is one of service to others.
It is also an honor to be here as part of a city where more than 140 ethnic groups reside. We live in the worlds largest patchwork of languages, customs and beliefs. Those differences are our wealth as we share with one another and learn from the diversity of one another.
Sheriff Baca continually seeks to preserve and enrich this culture, and through his leadership and service he is bringing about greater understanding among all of us.
In that light, I would like to contribute to enriching that diversity with this book of quotations from the writings of author, humanitarian and founder of the Scientology religion, L. Ron Hubbard.
On the subject of service to ones fellows, Mr. Hubbard writes:
I believe that to command is to serve and only gives one the right to serve.
A being is only as valuable as he can serve others.
And also from Mr. Hubbard:
Happiness and strength endure only in the absence of hate. To hate alone is the road to disaster. To love is the road to strength. To love in spite of all is the secret of greatness. And may very well be the greatest secret in this universe.
On behalf of the Church of Scientology International, it is my pleasure to present you with this book of wisdom L. Ron Hubbards Understanding: The Universal Solvent with our great appreciation for your work.
