SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTERS
DISASTER RELIEF

Scientology Volunteer Ministers Helping to
Prepare for Hurricane Rita

September 23rd, 2005

New volunteers are briefed on the current situation and how they can best help

Volunteer Ministers do whatever is needed to help people with disaster relief

Scientology Volunteer Ministers continue relief work at the River Center shelter with more evacuees expected as Hurricane Rita comes through

Along with the rest of the country, churches of Scientology across the United States and in Mexico gear up for Hurricane Rita, which is expected to reach land on Saturday.

Preparations are well underway to deploy Scientology disaster relief teams to help with medical assistance, supplies, whatever maybe needed in Texas. A call has gone out across the country and also to Mexico (the hurricane could head in that direction) for hundreds of new Volunteer Ministers, as the volunteers currently in place in Louisiana and Mississippi are needed where they are. This area is already feeling the affects of Rita's storms.

At the River Center Shelter in Baton Rouge, Scientology Volunteer Ministers are continuing to assist Hurricane Katrina survivors, while preparing for the arrival of Hurricane Rita. This center will remain open over the weekend and as long as needed to receive evacuees from Hurricane Rita.

One does not have to be a Scientologist to become a Volunteer Minister and on the job disaster relief training is provided.

Scientology Volunteer Minister disaster team operations run out of Los Angeles have the phones in the communications center manned 24/7. People wanting to volunteer or contribute are urged to call (323) 960-1949 or the hotline at 1-800-435-7498 or e-mail vm@volunteerministers.org

If you can help with donations or wish to volunteer time, call the VM Hotline 1-800-435-7498 (US & Canada) or from outside North America call 1-323-960-1949 or e-mail vm@volunteerministers.org
