SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTERS
SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER WORK CONTINUES IN THE SOUTH

The Scientology disaster relief volunteers are still hard at work in many areas, including Gulfport, Mississippi and Baton Rouge, Louisiana

One of the worst hit areas of New Orleans is the 9th Ward. This district went completely under water when Hurricane Katrina let loose and the levees had just been patched up when Rita threatened. Although Rita didn’t come directly to this area, the rains she brought broke the levees once again and inundated it with water.

In Baton Rouge Scientology Volunteer Ministers stationed in the Joint Field Office along with other disaster relief and military organizations, received a request from an officer in the National Guard who had heard about the work the Volunteer Ministers had done in New Orleans earlier. The officer and his men currently working in the 9th Ward, still recovering bodies and trying to put order back into the area, were rundown and despondent.

Hearing of the request, Scientology Volunteer Minister and doctor, Dr. Rohid Adi, took a team of volunteers down into the 9th Ward, to service the National Guard working there. Operations were set up in a convent and the Catholic sisters were grateful for assistance. The response was so positive the Scientology Volunteer Ministers were asked to return the next day and are continuing to do so as long as they are needed.

1. Assists operate on the principle that one tends to withdraw mentally or spiritually from an injured area. Only by restoring communication with this area can one bring the spiritual element into healing, thereby greatly speeding the healing process. Assists are used to alleviate stress or to orient a confused or distraught individual to his present environment. Assists are not "massages." They are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard to alleviate the spiritual component of physical pain, shock and emotional trauma. are techniques developed by L. Ron Hubbard.
