SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTERS
DISASTER RELIEF
HURRICANE KATRINA

Scientology Volunteer Ministers Thank Lafayette, Louisiana

September 22nd, 2005

The Lafayette shelter was well organized with cots set up and facilities for the evacuees

Activities are organized for the children to keep them occupied while adults go about the business of finding relatives and friends

Marie Pace, a Scientology Volunteer Minister, heading operations at the Lafayette shelter worked with authorities to successfully relocate evacuees

Volunteer Ministers in Lafayette, Louisiana completed the task yesterday of relocating all evacuees in the shelter they were manning. Over the past three weeks they helped more than 2000 people through this shelter, relocated 350 people and raised over $200,000 to care for evacuees and help get them set up in their new residences.

The Volunteer Ministers wish to express their gratitude to all those who helped, and particularly the Mayor of Lafayette and his staff for everything they did to make sure the hospitality, facilities and services of Lafayette were available to their neighbors from New Orleans and surrounding areas.

Now, with Hurricane Rita en route to the Gulf of Mexico threatening the Texas coast and parts of Louisiana already devastated by Katrina, these volunteers are preparing for the possibility of a new wave of evacuees and are calling for more volunteers to join them.

Training is available to anyone wishing to volunteer his or her time.
