Churches of Scientology Send Truckloads of Food and Supplies to Louisiana

Scientology Volunteer Minister trucks are arriving every day with more supplies for the evacuees

Churches of Scientology throughout the United States and Canada have filled several trucks with food, water, clothes and other supplies donated by parishioners for Hurricane Katrina survivors.

A 53-ft truck packed to the limit left from Los Angeles for Baton Rouge today, the second in recent days. Another 53-footer will depart in the next 24 hours to provide food and other necessities to the 10,000 people housed at the Astrodome in Houston.

Churches of Scientology in Clearwater, Florida sent a caravan of trucks and vans, while trucks are enroute to the relief areas from churches in Edmonton, Canada; Austin, Texas; Van Nuys, California and Santa Barbara, California.

Upon the trucks arrival, the goods are unloaded by the Volunteer Ministers manning the shelters in coordination with state and county officials and distributed to evacuees.

Said one evacuee who has been helped by the Volunteer Ministers, "I had a very warm welcome [given] to my family by the 'yellow shirts.' They made us all feel good. The food was good and all our personal needs are being met."
