SCIENTOLOGY VOLUNTEER MINISTRY LAUNCHES NEW HOLIDAY HOPE CAMPAIGN

DORCHESTER, MASSACHUSETTS – Citywide Night Commander of the Dorchester Police Force, Bobbie Johnson assisted other Dorchester community members at the Dorchester Scientology Volunteer Ministry during the launch of the new Holiday Hope Campaign.

Free T-Shirts with the slogan "Something Can Be Done About It" were distributed, symbolizing that no matter what the problem – illiteracy, drug use, crime or violence – something can be done about it.

The Dorchester Scientology Volunteer Ministry, established by the Reverend Robert Castagna of the Church of Scientology of Boston, provides free community service to residents of this area based on the technology developed by L. Ron Hubbard.

A listing for the Reading and Study Skills Project run by the Ministry, can be found in most of the Dorchester newspapers, thus requests for enrollment are rolling in constantly.

A typical success story is that of third-grader Joshua, who entered the program after having been diagnosed with “Dyslexia.” He had been placed in “special needs” because he was unable to read. Within a couple of months in the Reading and Study Skills Project he was able to read books.

Reverend Castagna says, “Many of the youth brought in by their parents are behind in school, and almost one for one we find that the kids are not unwilling to work hard and learn. It is a matter of applying the correct study technology that gets them involved and winning.”

Although this community has been known in the past for violent crime, the Volunteer Ministry is beginning to change that. One of its goals is to turn no one away, but to help every single person in need.

The Churches of Scientology are non-denominational, so the Ministry encourages strengthening the religious faith of individuals, whatever faith that may be. For more information call (617) 825-4280.
