SCIENTOLOGISTS CELEBRATE THE OPENING OF A NEW SCIENTOLOGY MISSION IN MANILA, MAKING DIANETICS AVAILABLE TO THE 77 MILLION PEOPLE OF THE PHLIPPINES

On April 23, 2004, the Church of Scientology officially dedicated its new Mission in the City a Manila.

On April 23, 2004, multi-platinum award-winning recording artist David Pomerantz along with actor and martial arts expert Ernie Reyes, Jr. dedicated the new Church of Scientology Mission of Manila. They were joined by government officials and community leaders, including the Chief of Police of San Juan, a representative of the National Red Cross, and the Deputy Director of the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency.

The event coincided with the release in Manila of The New York Times bestseller Dianetics: the Modern Science of Mental Health.

Ernie Reyes Jr. spoke of his overwhelming happiness at being present on the occasion of the mission opening. It has been a dream of his to return to the place of his people (his family are Filipinos) and help them. This is his first visit to this country, and he hopes he can contribute.

Jesus Jose DC Samson, the Senior Police Superintendent, Chief of Police of the city of San Juan, Phillipines, validated the Church for its anti-drug program and told the 200 attendees that he looks forward to working with the new Scientology mission to handle the drug problem in his city.

Col. Rodolfo N. Caisip, the Deputy Director General of the Philippines Drug Enforcement Agency, recognized the Church as "internationally known for its tireless anti-drug work." He also spoke of the effectiveness of the Narconon program and how the Agency is very excited about the implementation of the Narconon program in the country.

A representative of the National Red Cross applauded Scientologists’ distribution of 40,000 copies of The Way to Happiness to Manila’s residents and spoke of the positive effect this has had on the resolution of religious conflicts.

David Pomerantz told of his dream and passion for the Philippines. He described how his life has been helped so much through Dianetics and Scientology and he wants everyone else to share these benefits.

The mission opening was covered by national TV networks GMA and ABS-CBN to more than 5 million viewers.
