The Church of Scientology Volunteer Ministers march along Castro Street on June 6th, 2004 in celebration of the opening of the Dianetics and Scientology Life Improvement Center.

On a glorious Sunday evening, Vice Mayor Matt Neely, City Council member Michael Kasperzak and other community leaders joined Church of Scientology Mountain View executives to open a “Life Improvement Center” at the heart of downtown Mountain View at 331 Castro Street.
During a Grand Opening led by the Blue Devils bugle and brass band, community leaders united to welcome the Church’s new Life Improvement Center to the city. The new Center offers a wide range of religious services to help individuals become more successful in life and to gain an understanding of their own nature as spiritual beings.

City Council member Mr. Michael Kasperzak described some of the invaluable ministerial services that the Church will provide the community at the Life Improvement Center. For example, there are courses on how to study, how to improve relationships and how to solve the problems of work. He urged everyone to take advantage of the opportunity to improve some aspect of their lives.

In closing, he noted that the Church of Scientology and the City Council of Mountain View can together help the city become even more successful and prosperous for all its citizens.
Vice Mayor Matt Neely passionately encouraged personal engagement from individuals of the community in developing our city. He told Church representatives “You work with dedicated conviction to utilize what you know to rehabilitate the individual and thereby help communities — and our world — to new levels of productivity and capability.”
He pointed out that the aims of Scientology are those of all well-intentioned civic and religious organizations — a world without insanity, war or crime, where every man, woman and child can and does rise higher and reach their goals.

On behalf of the Chinese American Citizens Alliance, Grand Representative Honorable Francis Wong gave a rousing speech and wished a warm welcome to the Church’s new Life Improvement Center.
Mr. Wong said that the Church of Scientology’s religious roots lie in a great tradition of wisdom that came from the East. “Knowledge and understanding are the only solutions to the problems of life,” she told attendees.
In recognition of the importance of the occasion, Mr. Wong presented the Executive Director of the Church of Scientology of Mountain View, Jan Silbur, with a beautifully written Chinese scroll written in his own hand. It consisted of a quotation from the works of L. Ron Hubbard, founder of the Scientology religion:

Mr. Wong’s powerful rendition in both English and Chinese could be heard clearly throughout the surrounding neighborhood.
The Life Improvement Center is open from 9:00 am through 10:00 pm daily. All are welcome to come in and find out about it for themselves.
