Human rights must be made a fact, not an idealistic dream. -- L. Ron Hubbard

Human rights

The Church’s Human Rights Office has resolutely opposed attempts to curtail freedom of conscience and belief and campaigns continuously to increase awareness by officials and leaders of the importance of human rights.

Every year since 1998, the Church of Scientology International has organized a series of human rights marathons through Europe or the United States to promote the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.

Many Scientologists volunteer for human rights organizations such as the International Foundation for Human Rights and Tolerance, and Youth for Human Rights International, both founded by Church parishioners.

The Church’s programs to foster increased application of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights include radio, TV and print messages, as well as publications aimed at finding solutions to the conflicts, on both a large and a small scale, that often stand in the way of human rights enforcement.
