VOLUNTEER MINISTERS
In April 2002, a European-wide Volunteer Minister tour was launched. The tour consists of a mobile center introducing people to the work of the Volunteer Ministers. The center is set up to allow delivery of assists (simple procedures that help an individual recover from shock, grief, pain and exhaustion) and provide other spiritual counseling services to anyone in need.
The tour started in Birmingham, England. The ribbon was cut by the Lord Mayor, Jim Whorwood. In his opening remarks he said that he was very pleased to be present, and that he supported the actions the Volunteer Ministers were doing as he believed that the willingness of people to contribute their time and effort to helping others is what defines a society. He validated the Volunteer Ministers for their actions at Ground Zero. (He was so moved by what happened in NY that he personally flew to New York in January and donated GBP 250,000 for the families affected by the terrorist attack.)
