SCIENTOLOGY CHURCH SAYS SAN DIEGO IS “DRUG-FREE MARSHALS TERRITORY”
Like the marshals of the Wild West, who were trusted to maintain the safety and security of their territories, the Drug-Free Marshals keep their neighborhoods safe for kids, through informing them of the harmful effects of drugs.
The Church of Scientology of San Diego, provides booklets on the effects of marijuana, heroin, ecstasy and cocaine that provide real examples of the effects of these drugs and are written in language a kid can relate to. Since its inception in 1993, kids from all over the world have taken the Drug-Free Marshals’ pledge that stresses being informed, helping others and setting a good example for other youth.
Describing why he wears the Drug-Free Marshal badge, Joseph, a 5th grader from Spring Valley Elementary School says, “I know how drugs can hurt people and this is how I can help people stop taking drugs.”
“Anyone can open a Drug-Free Marshals group,” says Veronica Albano, the San Diego Drug-Free Marshals Coordinator. “It’s a very effective program, and its easy to do because the kids love it.”
The Church of Scientology International maintains a drug information web site at www.drugsalvage.org where it publishes stories of effective anti-drug activities. For information on how to open a Drug-Free Marshals group, or to share your anti-drug story, contact the Public Affairs Director of the Church of Scientology International at publicrelations@scientology.net
