STATEMENT FROM REV. HEBER C. JENTZSCH PRESIDENT, CHURCH OF SCIENTOLOGY INTERNATIONAL
Los Angeles County Sheriffs Interfaith Prayer Day September 11, 2002
REMEMBERING 9/11 THEN AND NOW
Members of the Church of Scientology join with other churches and with Sheriff Lee Baca in commemorating the valor and courage of those who fell in service during the 9/11 attack on the World Trade Center in 2001.
The Church of Scientology issued an international wake up call on that day, and 800 Scientology Ministers went to Ground Zero. They responded from all over the country as well as Europe. Subsequently, the Church issued an invitation to become trained as a Volunteer Minister, and today there are more than 15,000 VMs worldwide.
Volunteer Ministers have responded this year on the fire lines in Arizona, Australia and California. Volunteer Ministers in Poland, Hungary and Germany have been and continue to work on the flood lines in those countries.
In New York, Volunteer Ministers continue to assist those who still suffer from the trauma of 9/11.
We join with all faiths and with the vision and leadership of Sheriff Baca and the members of the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office in dedicating this day to the men and women of courage who serve the cities and the country.
Scientology Founder L. Ron Hubbard expressed the price of freedom:
Constant alertness, constant willingness to fight back, there is no other price.
