December 6th 2005 — Local residents packed the hall where the Scientology Volunteer Ministers Goodwill Tour held its Kaliningrad grand opening this week.  Kaliningrad, Russia is the fourth of the countries bordering the Baltic sea that the Goodwill Tour has visited since July and is home to one of the newest Scientology missions, which was opened just two months ago.

Like the Volunteer Ministers currently traveling through Africa and South America, this Goodwill Tour was established to make effective Scientology techniques known and available to people in countries where the Scientology religion is new, and to train Scientology Volunteer Ministers with the tools they need to bring about positive social change.

In 1976, observing a serious decline in the values and morality of society, L. Ron Hubbard created the Scientology Volunteer Minister program, and invited people of goodwill to join the movement, stating, “If one does not like the crime, cruelty, injustice and violence of this society, he can do something about it. He can become a VOLUNTEER MINISTER and help civilize it, bring it conscience and kindness and love and freedom from travail by instilling into it trust, decency, honesty and tolerance.”

In just the past four years more than 60,000 active members of the Volunteer Minister Corps have helped over 4 million people through disaster relief and community betterment activities.
