Applications open on February 1st 2005 for young European artists.
European youth between the ages of 12 - 20 years old are invited to participate in a human rights and arts festival in Cornwall, England, co-hosted by Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) and the Church of Scientology International Human Rights Department. The event, scheduled from August 26th to August 29th 2005, will be held at “Camelot Castle,” Tintagel, Cornwall, England, the legendary birthplace of King Arthur.
Entries will be accepted from February 1st to July 15th 2005, and those chosen to attend will represent their own countries in arts competitions in film, photography and the fine arts.
Formed in August 2001 Youth for Human Rights International has the purpose “To teach youth around the globe about Human Rights, thus helping them to become valuable advocates for the promotion of tolerance and peace.”
In announcing this festival, YHRI Directory, Mary Shuttleworth stated: “This event will provide a unique opportunity for enthusiastic young artists to participate and be recognized for their true talents. The artist brings inspiration, revitalization and hope for a better future. Without nurturing the artists of today, the light of hope for tomorrow dims. Therefore, the importance of the artist must never be underestimated ever!”
Each participant will be selected based on their involvement in forwarding human rights through the arts and making a difference in their community.
The 4-day event will feature a Human Rights Youth Summit on the theme “Human Rights and the Arts,” workshops delivered by experts in the fields of film, photography and fine arts, and an awards ceremony for festival winners.
