Ms. Lepone, Church of Scientology of Los Angeles Women's Auxiliary member, presents the Edelman Children's Court Center with toys for the Center's Birthday Closet project.

Church of Scientology of Los Angeles Women's Auxiliary members work with, and donate to the Red Cross.
Lead by Nancy Reitze, Vice-President of the Church of Scientology Los Angeles Women’s Auxiliary, this women’s group continues its charity-aid work in the Los Angeles district.

The Auxiliary’s most recent project was a presentation to the Edelman’s Children Court Center in Monterey Park in LA of a large donation of toys, which was added to the Center’s Birthday Closet. Janice Johnson, Program Manager for the Juvenile Court Services Shelter Care Program, received the toys and in her acknowledgement stated that this will significantly assist the Center in providing birthday gifts for the children in their care.

Auxiliary member, Catherine Lepone, heading up the Birthday Closet project, saw to the donation of dolls, soft toys, games, trucks and endless other toys. Ms. Lepone said, “We feel that every child is special and should be made to feel even more special on his or her birthday. Going through the court system is especially stressful, so if we contribute to a child having a better time of it because he or she got a birthday gift, we’ve accomplished our goal.”

Delivering gifts and toys to needy families at Christmas time, providing essential items for local halfway houses, holding fundraisers and enlightening people on how to create a happy life for themselves, using The Way to Happiness booklet by L. Ron Hubbard , are just a few of the activities of the Church of Scientology Women’s Auxiliary.

Founded seven years ago, the purpose of the Church of Scientology of Los Angeles Women’s Auxiliary is to do good works in the community, an activity carried out by churches and their parishioners, throughout history. The Auxiliary holds a successful fundraiser once a year to help fund important Church goodwill programs. One such project they embarked on recently was to raise funds to support the many Scientology Volunteer Ministers going to South-East Asia to help with Scientology relief efforts.

The Churches of Scientology Women’s Auxiliary chapters focus is working with local charity groups and assisting them with campaigns that bring about social betterment in the areas of drug education, criminal rehabilitation, literacy and human rights. To accomplish this they have worked with groups such as the Red Cross, YMCA Domestic Violence Shelters, YWCA, Covenant House, People Assisting the Homeless and Edelman’s Children’s Court.

Having raised more than $100,000 since 1998, the Los Angeles branch of the Churches of Scientology Women’s Auxiliary has been able to contribute to numerous social betterment causes and help make a difference in the Los Angeles area.
